Planning a move or just moved from South Africa?

South African students are well prepared. The IEB and NSC are rigorous qualifications. But the UK syllabus covers topics in a different order, uses different notation and examines them differently. That gap catches even strong students off guard.

These sessions are taught by a South African teacher who has taught IEB, NSC, GCSE and A-Level maths. I know exactly where the differences are and exactly how to bridge them, quickly and without your child losing confidence in the process.

More Information

  • Ready for Year 7 and everything that comes with it.

Starting secondary school is a big deal. New building, new teachers, new expectations and maths that moves faster than ever before. Whether your child is flying high and wants to hit the ground running, or feeling a little uncertain about what's ahead, these sessions build the skills and the confidence to start Year 7 strong.

    What we work on

Year 7 maths covers a lot of new ground and it moves quickly. These sessions focus on the topics that matter most in that first term: number and arithmetic, fractions, decimals and percentages, basic algebra, geometry and problem-solving. We make sure nothing feels like a surprise when the school year begins.

    Who it's for

    Confident Mathematicians

    • Your child is capable and you want to keep the momentum going. We stretch their thinking, deepen their understanding, and make sure they walk into Year 7 a step ahead.

    Nervous about the jump students

    • The move to secondary school can feel overwhelming, and maths is often where that anxiety shows up first. These sessions build confidence steadily so by September your child feels ready rather than worried.

    Rates for KS3

    £45 per hour

  • KS3 Maths tutoring that actually moves the needle.

Years 7 to 9 are where the foundations get laid. Get them right and everything that follows in GCSE and A-Level becomes so much easier. Get them wrong and it becomes a battle to catch up. These sessions make sure your child builds real understanding from the start, not just enough to get by.

    What we work on

KS3 maths covers a lot of ground and the pace picks up quickly. Sessions are tailored to your child but typically cover number and algebra, fractions, decimals and percentages, ratio and proportion, geometry, statistics and the kind of problem-solving that GCSE examiners love to see. We work on understanding, not just memorising methods.

    Who it's for

Keeping up but wants to go further

Your child is doing fine but you know they are capable of more. We deepen their understanding, stretch their thinking and build the kind of confidence that shows up in exams.

    Finding it tough

Maths can feel like it moves too fast at secondary school. If your child is losing confidence or falling behind, we slow down, find the gaps and rebuild from there. No judgement, just progress and confidence.

  • GCSE Maths tutoring that gets results.

GCSE Maths is one of the most important qualifications your child will sit. Whether they are targeting a grade 4 to pass, pushing for a 7, 8 or 9, or taking on the challenge of Further Maths, these sessions are built around what your child specifically needs to get there.

    What we cover

    Foundation tier

For students working towards grades 1 to 5. We focus on building solid understanding of the core topics, closing gaps that have built up over KS3 and making sure your child walks into the exam feeling prepared and confident.

    Higher tier

For students targeting grades 4 to 9. We work through the full higher syllabus, tackle the problem-solving and reasoning questions that separate the top grades, and build the exam technique to convert understanding into marks.

    Further Maths GCSE

For students who want to go beyond the standard syllabus. Further Maths stretches into topics that bridge into A-Level and is ideal for students who love maths and want to be properly prepared for sixth form. Whether your child is flying through the standard content or needs support keeping up with the pace of Further Maths, we tailor sessions to where they are.

  • Hit the ground running in UK maths

Moving from South Africa to the UK is exciting. Falling behind in maths because of curriculum gaps? Not so much.

This course is built specifically for South African students stepping into KS3, GCSE, or A-Level maths in the UK, taught by someone who knows both systems inside out.

The two curricula are more different than you'd think

South Africa's IEB and NSC are excellent qualifications, but the UK's GCSE and A-Level syllabuses cover topics in a different order, use different notation, and examine them in different ways. Most students who arrive mid-year aren't struggling because they lack ability. They're struggling because nobody has shown them how the UK syllabus is structured. This course fixes that.

With experience teaching in both countries, I've spent years identifying exactly where the gaps appear, and building sessions that close them efficiently, so students can walk into their new school confident and ready to perform.

    Three levels, one specialist

Whether you're a Year 8 settling into a new school, a Year 10 preparing for GCSE exams, or a Year 12 starting A-Levels, the bridging course is tailored to your exact level and entry point.

KS3 — Years 7–9 Build the right foundations early. We align your existing knowledge to the UK national curriculum before habits form.

GCSE — Years 10–11 Identify gaps quickly, fill them efficiently, and prepare for exams with confidence, whatever tier you're sitting.

A-Level — Year 12 entry A-Level maths moves fast. We map your NSC/IEB knowledge against the UK spec so you're not playing catch-up from week one.

Simple, structured, and built around you

    Free 15-minute intro call

We start with a relaxed chat, no pressure, no obligation. You get to ask questions, get a feel for my teaching style, and we figure out together what the course needs to cover for your specific situation.

    Tailored gap analysis

Every student arrives with a different mix of strengths and gaps. In the first session we work out exactly where you are, so we don't waste time on things you already know.

Focused bridging sessions We work through the UK syllabus systematically, filling gaps, adjusting to new notation and exam technique, and building genuine understanding, not just surface familiarity.

    Confidence, not just content

The goal isn't just to cover the material, it's for you to walk into school or an exam room knowing you belong there. Every session is focused on building that certainty.

    Straightforward, no surprises
